Inflation in India is artificially suppressed: RBI

Posted by skinsync on January 29, 2008

Rise in retail prices of fuels could raise inflation from below 4%.

In an indication that it may hold back a policy rate cut tomorrow, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday said inflation in India was artificially “suppressed” as higher international oil prices have not been passed on to domestic consumers.

In its report on macro-economic and monetary developments a day before the third quarterly review of its 2007-08 monetary policy, RBI also said “elevated international food prices also pose potential inflationary pressures in the period ahead.” Read the rest of this entry »

Haryana Police on Sunday said they did not rule out the possibility of the alleged mastermind of the kidney racket, Dr Amit Kumar, having fled the country, taking advantage of the network of some of his foreign clients.

The scam was exposed after a victim registered a police complaint in Moradabad.

Senior Police Officer Manzil Saini has admitted that Dr Kumar got away because someone tipped him off about the police raid.

Affairs of the heart

Vijay Singh

Paris: Will supermodel-singer Carla Bruni accompany French President Nicolas Sarkozy to India, was the question doing the rounds when one left Delhi a few days ago. I was surprised to be confronted with the same question upon landing in Paris. Sarkozy-Carla’s visit to India, with the prospect of their nascent romance being blessed by the Taj Mahal, was beginning to become a riddle, when a former colleague from the French daily Liberation called to inform that Carla herself had phoned the newspaper to clarify that neither are they yet married nor will she be accompanying the French president to India. “Oh no! How disappointing!” lamented an Indian journalist on learning the news. “We were all set for her. She’d have taken the press by storm. You know whose fault this is — this wretched protocol!” Read the rest of this entry »

Sort it out Apple. I’ve got work to do.

Posted by skinsync on January 22, 2008

Carlos from Amsterdam says

After 14 years of using Apple products professionally, I’m beginning to get sick of the direction in which Apple is going and there attitude to the paying professional user. They are becoming a toy company. Watching Steve Jobs smugly holding the latest Apple toy whilst their existing machines are still riddled with problems makes me want to vomit.

Apple DID have a reputation of building solid, reliable working machines – yes they looked great but that was secondary – the main thing was they worked well in the first place.

5 reasons to BUNK your class

Posted by speakindia on January 21, 2008

Although it sounds against the normal(good) culture, but there are certain incentives to it. Bunking a class(or classes) can actually improve your performance and various other parameters. Here are 5 reasons on why should break the rule and go out, when you are not supposed to go.

  1. Independence
    1. An independent person can only lead a successful life. If he/she has independent ideas and thinking it’ll become easier for him to take decisions in future.
  2. Improved academics performance
    1. If you bunk your class, you won’t know how a particular problem has been solved, or how a particular thing works. So what if you were absent. You will spend more time with the books and hence use your brains. So you are not just a robot.
  3. Good relationship with teachers
    1. When you bunk, you don’t get attendance. So you go up to your teachers for some help (jugaad). So the harmony between the teacher and the student increases
  4. Fun
    1. The most obvious reason is fun. Increase your awareness by spending quality time with your friends.
  5. Peace
    1. Yes,you get peace. The cacophonous class can make you distasteful and hence make you more irritable. So you get what the world wants, “peace “

If there is anything more you think can be added, please let me know.

Have you ever bunked your class
1) Yes
2) NoView Results
