Ana Magdalene: Im amazed by the article written by Miss Donna from UK wherein she feels that the Scarlett Keeling rape and murder is the fault of the goan folk. She claims to have come to India 15 years ago and there were caring and spiritual folk. Now 15 years down the line, the entire scenario has changed! This struck me as an odd remark! Because I myself am Goan and Ive lived in this laid-back state for 20 years of my life. I have not once come across a Goan who is not willing to care for a fellow goan or tourist!
What happened to Scarlett is unfortunate! The criminals must be brought to justice. But Please do not say its the fault of the goans! Because the Goa where was brought up in does not comprise of murderers. Infact I cannot relate at all to the Goa that’s in the media gaze post Scarlett Keeling’s death. I am shocked to find how much Anjuna has changed. Its a serene, picturesque village of Anjuna that stills plays in my mind.
I strongly believe Fiona Mackeown should have known better than to trust her under-age daughter in the care of a stranger and that too in a foreign country! I being Goan and 20 years of age never venture out on my own at night. Parents should be there guide their young ones. Im glad mine did. As much as you try to ignore it, drugs, alcohol, peer pressure is always present in the background of almost every country you can point on the globe! All that matters is whether you can or cannot keep away from these bad elements. Maybe Scarlett was too young to know the difference. This is where parental guidance had to come in.
All that matters now is whether the CBI can bring the culprits down to their knees. I do hope that justice is brought to Scarlett Keeling. May her soul rest in peace. As a Goan, I can only pray that Goa’s image is not shattered any further.

Donna(Goa) : When are the Goan people going to face up to the fact that they need to take responsibility for their own people, government and problems that HAVE NOW COME TO LIGHT.
When I first came to Goa many years ago as a British tourist. I thought I had found a slice of heaven. The simple things in life were important here, caring and lovely people, a spiritual place, not full of greed and self-interest. Sixteen years later and what’s the picture? Goan’s, look at what is happening here.
These boys deliberately drugged Scarlet and raped her. Once they achieved what they wanted they left her to die alone. Then your police force and your government tried to cover it up. This is disgusting, and terribly wrong.
If it were not for Fiona MacKeown’s refusal in not accepting her daughter’s death as accidental, would anything have been done? Or would this have been another unexplained death? Just how many of these crimes are being swept under the carpet? What message is being sent to the young people of Goa?
STOP blaming others, these boys were Goan, these boys were using drugs to commit horrific crimes. They knew what they were doing and did not care. Whether you like it or not, Goa, like many other societies in our world is changing. Some of these changes we do not like nor do we understand, but they are happening.
Yes, Scarlet should never have been left on her own. But in that split second Fiona MacKeown’s made the wrong decision. And she will have to live with that for the rest of life. She will never feel and experience the joys of her daughter Scarlet, grow from a child into a woman. Is that not enough pain to live with?
We cannot change what has happened, but what you can do is make sure that these crimes do not happen again. The answer is not to blame but to look within your own community and deal with these arising problems. Which has ultimately affected us all. I do not believe that Goan’s are bad people, nor do I believe Fiona MacKeown’s is a bad person or mother.
What I do believe is that the culprits that committed this crime and the others that helped to cover it up, and blame everyone and everything else apart from their own failings. These people should be punished and hold their heads in shame.
Rest in peace Scarlet Eden Keeling.

Hide and Seek
The next way through which the tax payers money is being stolen, rather than being wasted is the hide and seek way.
- The govt first allocates money to a project, which has no use and significance.
- The project causes a lot problem to the people
- Traffic jams result due the mismanaged project
- People shorten their lives by inhaling more carbon monoxide, while the politicians are enjoying their old age in their lawn.
- Few people unfortunately die
- The citizens want the project to be called off.
- After a lot of request, the govt finally calls the project off, but says, that the pilot project will run.
- One day a leading daily shows the shocking news of the approval of the project and that too on a bigger scale.
- Project allocation cost: around 1873 cr
The above mentioned hide and seek way through which the govt is cheating is the example of the HCBS project.
What do you think should be done to such people(politicians) ?
Should we imprison them for life. I think yes.

The UPA govt have managed to fool the citizens of India once again. This time it is the BRT corridor.
It was told by govt sources that only one project of the BRT system would run and rest all would only run if this one proved out to be successful.
But what did they do. They back stabbed us once again. It has come to the notice through sources of times of India that 26 such projects have been given the clearence.
The govt and its ministers are leaving no stone unturned to cheat, steal and rape this nation.
It has been raped to such an extent that people like Taslima say that India is fundamentalist. It is true.
Our representatives are proving out to be a bunch of thieves, disguised as hypocritical saints.

I read a post in a leading english daily titled “From taslima to tibet, india proves chicken”. This was posted under a section called “Second opinion”
I was really curious to see what was in the post as it was concerning the India and the c
urrent events that have been affecting our image as a secular an d democratic India.
The first line said ” Instead of the peacock, India should adopt the chicken as its national bird.”. Woh! That’s getting dangerous
As I read
further, I found the author quite right in his second opinion. The image of India, more than the image, the soul of India has changed over the years. This is very evident from the fact that people like Raj T
hackeray say that he(and all politicians) is inspired by Hitler.
Quite recently, the Taslima episode has shown the world, the inner fundamentalist world of India. The fundamentalism, which is backed by our politicians. I think my life would prove in-sufficient to write about our devilish inhuman politicians, and the English language would also prove incapable to describe them.
On the other side, “India proves chicken”, means we are generalizing this to all Indians and the picture then becomes completely wrong. But still there’s some truth behind the chickenism shown by the Indian govt.
We can just sit and hope that the Indian tiger comes out, despite all the political zoo keepers to show the world(and ourselves)our secularism and democratic nature.

I recently read an article titled, “Thank God! I’m not Scarlett” and it sent a shock wave across my mind. The author thanks god for not being the victim (Scarlett) and her mother not being Fiona, the victim’s mother.
After the unfortunate incident, it seems as if the whole world exactly knows the reason and causes behind the rape and murder. I feel very sorry to hear people talking about the bad parenting of Fiona every time this topic is raised.
The fact that has been forgotten is, that two people committed a crime in a so called safe tourist destination, which has been a witness to murder of almost 130 foreign nationals in the last two years
Despite all this, its Fiona, Fiona and only Fiona. “She is the culprit, catch her”, “she should not get away”.
What the hell!
A journalist suddenly becomes a good mother and starts giving parenting tips. She thanks god on not putting her in place on Scarlett. But why only she?
Shouldn’t every girl have the “right” to not be in place of Scarlett?
Shouldn’t every girl have the “right” of moving freely and on her own? We are living in a world where women are trying to move, hand in hand with men in every sphere. Then why such orthodoxy when it comes to partying.
I feel the reason lies in the mindsets of people. People like the journalist who wrote the article “Thank God! I’m not Scarlett”, who feels Fiona should have known that the mindset of Indian men hasn’t changed over the decades.
I think its high time we look into ourselves.

Puneet Rajhans commented on the article, ” Blueline Menace in Delhi“
This is what he had to say
The sooner you phase out these blueline buses, the better it would be for Delhi commuters. One has lost count of the number of occasions when blueline staff break all norms. Not only the driver overspeeds, he changes lane at will and is abrasive and abusive. The conductor is rude to the extent possible. These devils need to be tamed, tamed and tamed. They have unleashed a jungle raj on city roads. What on earth prevents the commuters inside the bus to raise a voice. Perhaps their eagerness to reach the destination is too overwhelming to bother about any other thing. Or they are too scared to respond to situations. No amount of strict action can make them fall in line. No amount of cajoling/coercing can make them see logic. They need to be tamed with all possible measures one can think of in the course of traffic governance. At least six to nine months should be set aside when half of the fleet would be off the roads. Well, commuters even if they face hardships would in the normal course get used to it. As for the remaining fleet on the road, this action would be enough to make them curb their notoriety till the period they are not completely phased out. But they have to be phased out at any cost.
These devils have snatched so many lives that authorities aren’t bothered to think about when one gets knocked down. Perhaps it is the offshoot of liberalization that human angle has taken a backseat. Perhaps we are tied to our daily dose of happenings that nothing can shake us even if the menace continues unabated.
When so many public campaigns have been launched on so many issues, some even trivial by nature, why can’t a campaign be launched on such an issue where human life is at stake. For all those who don’t take public transport, spare a thought or two for all those who take this form of transport and face a constant threat of their life being cut short.

March 5
Tourists have been warned to take more responsibility for their own safety after two Britons were found dead in the Indian holiday resort of Goa in just two weeks.
Manchester man Michael Harvey, 34, was found dead on Sunday in a backpacker shack at a remote palm-fringed beach notorious for drugs-fuelled rave parties – just two weeks after Devon schoolgirl Scarlett Keeling’s body was found on a Goa beach.
An autopsy report revealed that Harvey had died from a pulmonary and cerebral oedema, but detectives are now investigating whether drugs or violence could have played a part in his death.
His body was found the morning after he checked in to Ben’s Inn on Aswem beach. He was the tenth Briton to die in Goa this year.
A post-mortem investigation found sand in Scarlett’s mouth but little water in her lungs.
“The fact is that my daughter did not drown in the sea but died of asphyxia when her face was pushed into the sand by her assailants,” said Mrs MacKeown.
