Ram, lord Vishnu’s avatar was a protector not the destroyer, for he protected the interests of those sadhus who were troubled by Rakshasas. Looking at the recent Mangalore incident, it wouldn’t be hard for any sane individual to distinguish between Rakhshas and lord Ram. Read Full story>>

Jammu and Kashmir Divided
Posted by speakindia on August 15, 2008
In this post I’d like to express my concern over the fact that India may loose its oneness and may be divided because of the vested interests of politicians involved in this violent uprising against the wrong issues (communal) . This uprising may have been ignited by the Amarnath shrine land, but the main cause of it has been different. The differences are between the people of Jammu and those of Kashmir. These differences have grown into a full fledged poisonous tree that is now threatening to destroy its own roots. The people of Jammu resentfully feel that Kashmir has been pampered for the last 60 years, no denial of that fact. The fact that educated people, not persuaded by political parties have joined the agitation itself proves this. On the contrary, the highway blockade by VHP activists has sharpened the perception that Kashmiris (Muslims) are persecuted in India (dominated by Hindus). This agitation had nothing to do with hindus or muslims, but this case has become critical since the density of Hindus is more in Jammu and the same is with Muslims in Kashmir.
I recently was a spectator to a debate between a resident of Jammu and a kashmiri. The debate was centered around the agitation in Jammu and had begun from the violence by the army. The Jammu resident was unhappy with the over pampering of Kashmir. She said that Kashmir has been the center of growth and development.
More funds are allocated to Kashmir than to Jammu and hence the growth has been slow. There are few colleges in jammu and most colleges in kashmir have more quota for Kashmiri people. Most politicians in kashmir have built sprawling bunglows in jammu on illegal forest land and they come there to stay, when its snowing in the valley. So when it came to amarnath land there was no need for the land to be taken. The Kashmiri resident argued that there were more number of people in Kashmir and almost equal funds had been allocated to jammu, mentioning that there were almost 7 flyovers in jammu as compared to 1 in Kashmir. When this debate was going on I was just thinking that why has this become communal and why hurriyat and BJP are in the midst fuelling agitation and protests in J&K. This is the only thing stopping a civil war. The agitation and protests have been concentrated on economic effects.
The media has also been biased and has only focussed on issues pertaining to a single side. Media plays a vital role in influencing the thoughts of people and if it is biased or corrupted then it adds fuel to the fire. It could although give them good sales but it is simply ruining J&K, already heading towards anarchy. One such website I’d like to mention is www.greaterkashmir.com . The website has shown has portrayed kashmiris as victims and all others as cruel. The fact is that we all are victims here. Things such as Muzaffarabad Chalo could only give the anti social terror elements a chance to sneak in militants into India and they could kill innocents.
The situation could be like what it was in 1947 if muslims were made to flee from jammu, giving the BJP an electoral advantage.
The possibility of a bloody civil war is quite there as J&K has a lot of village self defense committees armed with automatic rifles. These committees are largely Hindu. In the hilly terrain, a civil war could would mean catastrophy.
The only solution to this situation is that one side needs to compromise. The political parties have their own vested interests. BJP might have gained good political ground from this agitation. We need to sort out our differences and stay with peace. Somebody will have to compromise. We have seen so many communal riots and seen thousands of people die as a result of that. But we are still fighting, not realizing that this situation could get communal soon. There are lakhs of people at the Amarnath yatra. As a resident of J&K you might criticize me. You might say that how can I, who may have never stayed in J&K could say this so easily. You are right, but the solution of this problem is only in compromising. About 21 people have died so far because of the firing by the army and CRPF. You may hate the army, but please don’t support the terrorists either. Supporting them has allowed them to survive. Naxalites have also survived in a similar way. The right path is long and bumpy and does not look easy, but it always leads you to the right place.

Bangalore Blasts : The whole story
Posted by speakindia on July 26, 2008
Bangalore, July 25(PTI) A string of nine synchronised low intensity bomb blasts today rocked the IT hub during the busy lunch hour, leaving two killed and injuring 12 others spreading terror.
In a grim reminder of the terror attack at the Indian Institute of Sciences here in December 2005, crude bombs concealed near refugee camps, a drain and a bus shelter stuffed with nuts and bolts, exploded between 1.30 pm and 1.45 pm at Adugodi, Madivala, Nayandahalli, Mysore Road, Richmond Circle, Pantharapalya and Vittal Mallya Road. One explosion occured later in the evening. Read the rest of this entry »

Gujjar violence: How it began
Posted by speakindia on May 26, 2008
The violence began on Friday when protesters belonging to the Gujjar caste lynched a policeman in Bharatpur district in Rajasthan, G.C. Kataria, the state’s home minister, told reporters.
Police shot at protesters as they tried to damage railway lines and government property, he said. At least 15 were killed.
On Saturday, the army was called in to help calm the violence as another 15 people were killed when police shot at a mob protesters trying to torch a police in Sikandra.
Thousands of protesters were blocking a rail route between Delhi and Mumbai, police said. Highways have also been blocked, and state authorities have cancelled many buses.
Gujjars are already considered among the low born in India’s complex caste hierarchy. They want to be thought of as even lower — a so-called scheduled tribe — so they can qualify for the nearly half of all government jobs and state college seats reserved solely for the lowest castes, who tend to be poorer than their high-caste compatriots.
state government committee did not agree. Said it would spend 2.82 billion rupees ($67 million) improving schools, clinics, roads and other infrastructure in Gujjar-dominated areas.
How many Killed
At least 31 people have been killed and scores injured in western India in two days of clashes between police and members of a farming caste demanding job quotas for their community, a state minister said on Saturday.

Outsiders are to blame. – Mother accused of negligence
Posted by speakindia on March 23, 2008
Donna(Goa) : When are the Goan people going to face up to the fact that they need to take responsibility for their own people, government and problems that HAVE NOW COME TO LIGHT.
When I first came to Goa many years ago as a British tourist. I thought I had found a slice of heaven. The simple things in life were important here, caring and lovely people, a spiritual place, not full of greed and self-interest. Sixteen years later and what’s the picture? Goan’s, look at what is happening here.
These boys deliberately drugged Scarlet and raped her. Once they achieved what they wanted they left her to die alone. Then your police force and your government tried to cover it up. This is disgusting, and terribly wrong.
If it were not for Fiona MacKeown’s refusal in not accepting her daughter’s death as accidental, would anything have been done? Or would this have been another unexplained death? Just how many of these crimes are being swept under the carpet? What message is being sent to the young people of Goa?
STOP blaming others, these boys were Goan, these boys were using drugs to commit horrific crimes. They knew what they were doing and did not care. Whether you like it or not, Goa, like many other societies in our world is changing. Some of these changes we do not like nor do we understand, but they are happening.
Yes, Scarlet should never have been left on her own. But in that split second Fiona MacKeown’s made the wrong decision. And she will have to live with that for the rest of life. She will never feel and experience the joys of her daughter Scarlet, grow from a child into a woman. Is that not enough pain to live with?
We cannot change what has happened, but what you can do is make sure that these crimes do not happen again. The answer is not to blame but to look within your own community and deal with these arising problems. Which has ultimately affected us all. I do not believe that Goan’s are bad people, nor do I believe Fiona MacKeown’s is a bad person or mother.
What I do believe is that the culprits that committed this crime and the others that helped to cover it up, and blame everyone and everything else apart from their own failings. These people should be punished and hold their heads in shame.
Rest in peace Scarlet Eden Keeling.

See how the taxpayers money is wasted #2
Posted by speakindia on March 22, 2008
Hide and Seek
The next way through which the tax payers money is being stolen, rather than being wasted is the hide and seek way.
- The govt first allocates money to a project, which has no use and significance.
- The project causes a lot problem to the people
- Traffic jams result due the mismanaged project
- People shorten their lives by inhaling more carbon monoxide, while the politicians are enjoying their old age in their lawn.
- Few people unfortunately die
- The citizens want the project to be called off.
- After a lot of request, the govt finally calls the project off, but says, that the pilot project will run.
- One day a leading daily shows the shocking news of the approval of the project and that too on a bigger scale.
- Project allocation cost: around 1873 cr
The above mentioned hide and seek way through which the govt is cheating is the example of the HCBS project.
What do you think should be done to such people(politicians) ?
Should we imprison them for life. I think yes.

The govt fools its citizens again
Posted by speakindia on March 22, 2008
The UPA govt have managed to fool the citizens of India once again. This time it is the BRT corridor.
It was told by govt sources that only one project of the BRT system would run and rest all would only run if this one proved out to be successful.
But what did they do. They back stabbed us once again. It has come to the notice through sources of times of India that 26 such projects have been given the clearence.
The govt and its ministers are leaving no stone unturned to cheat, steal and rape this nation.
It has been raped to such an extent that people like Taslima say that India is fundamentalist. It is true.
Our representatives are proving out to be a bunch of thieves, disguised as hypocritical saints.

India proves chicken
Posted by speakindia on March 21, 2008
I read a post in a leading english daily titled “From taslima to tibet, india proves chicken”. This was posted under a section called “Second opinion”
I was really curious to see what was in the post as it was concerning the India and the c
urrent events that have been affecting our image as a secular an d democratic India.
The first line said ” Instead of the peacock, India should adopt the chicken as its national bird.”. Woh! That’s getting dangerous
As I read
further, I found the author quite right in his second opinion. The image of India, more than the image, the soul of India has changed over the years. This is very evident from the fact that people like Raj T
hackeray say that he(and all politicians) is inspired by Hitler.
Quite recently, the Taslima episode has shown the world, the inner fundamentalist world of India. The fundamentalism, which is backed by our politicians. I think my life would prove in-sufficient to write about our devilish inhuman politicians, and the English language would also prove incapable to describe them.
On the other side, “India proves chicken”, means we are generalizing this to all Indians and the picture then becomes completely wrong. But still there’s some truth behind the chickenism shown by the Indian govt.
We can just sit and hope that the Indian tiger comes out, despite all the political zoo keepers to show the world(and ourselves)our secularism and democratic nature.
